Hey there!
I hope this finds you well and in good spirits! 🌿 This is the emoji of my garden in full growth mode. The amount of tomatoes we will have is staggering to me. It’s an excellent year for them, apparently, weather-wise, in the great Northeast. I’m excited. It’s been a fabulous place to implement, strengthening my supportive voice inside my head as I learn how to can shortly.
This will activate a core memory because, as a kid, my job was to label the jars as we canned so many veggies for the winter. Is it any wonder I would learn to love systems with that assignment to label because I loved to spell words?
As I watched this garden flourish, there were moments when I thought, “What the heck have we gotten ourselves into planting 35 tomato plants and then having 12 volunteers show up?”
You read that correctly. We love tomatoes and went a bit cookabonkers.
But then I remembered all my work creating new neural pathways in my brain and having my soul or sage voice speak rather than my inner critic, and I shifted that message.
So what if we have too many? We have friends, neighbors, family, and perfect strangers who could benefit from our bounty.
I enjoy the physical work of gardening, and if you think I don’t squeal at every flower that shows up on the plants, you don’t know me very well. My neighbor, Lisa, mentioned hearing me exclaim to Mike, “Come look at this! A strawberry!”
In my latest episode, I explored more beings of the plant realm when I introduced you to Mama, my trusty corn plant (yes, plants have energy, too!), to set the stage for understanding how our inner voices can impact our lives.
We delved into how our inner critic isn't just about nagging doubts—it's a survival mechanism deeply rooted in our experiences. But, left unchecked, it can generalize and stress us out unnecessarily. Sound familiar?
Did you absorb that? UNNECESSARILY!
I shared my journey from intuitive readings to coaching, driven by a passion for helping others—and myself—quiet that inner voice and unlock our true potential. It's all about awareness and taking action, transforming those critical thoughts into kinder, more supportive ones.
Remember that cardiac test I mentioned? My inner critic was all about questioning my fitness. Instead of letting it drag me down, I turned it into motivation to stay active and healthy. These small shifts in perspective can truly transform how we view ourselves and our capabilities. They are not just small shifts, they are powerful transformations that can inspire hope and change.
So, how can you start making these changes? Through honest, authentic practices that shift your thinking from criticism to compassion. No empty affirmations here—just truthful, supportive self-talk that aligns with who you truly are.
We can all live joyfully, aware of our inner critics but not controlled by them.
We have to begin, though, by taking tiny steps toward self-kindness every day. Are there any OGs out there? Micro movements matter! I encourage you to start your journey towards self-kindness today. You have the power to make a change, and every small step counts.
If you're having a challenge quieting that inner critic and strengthening your supportive inner voice, too, I highly recommend checking out Positive Intelligence by Shirzad Chamine. This book provides practical strategies and insights that have impacted me. I have gone on to become a coach affiliated with them because I believe in it so much, and that is the first time in 23 years I’ve done that.
Check out the assessment here to learn more about how our cute brain learns to sabotage you and where you could focus to quiet all those messages. Once you’ve taken the assessment, book an appointment, and I will share how I can further help you quiet them and strengthen the “I rock” muscle in your brain.
Let's keep spreading kindness, starting with ourselves. Together, we can make the world a kinder place, one inner critic at a time.
Wishing you a week filled with self-discovery and kindness!
Warm regards,
Vicki
