When I was planning my podcasts for the next few months, I got a little jolt about what I wanted to accomplish this year and the sound of tick-tock in my head. How the heck are you? How is this year going for you? Can you believe we are almost at the six-month mark? Goodness, time flies, doesn’t it?
Ya know, sometimes I am so focused on being present that time goes by before I am conscious of it. And sure, we can believe that time is an illusion but babe, I’ve got things I want to experience, and I bet you do too! As much as I love the mindfulness life, it can have some challenges.
So, do you? Do you have dreams? Do you have goals? Intentions? It’s all the same, isn’t it? Whatever we label it, it is about living the life you want to live and applying some effort to achieve it.
“Of course I do, Vicki, but I also have responsibilities, and the dreams will have to wait.”
Do they? Do they really have to wait? I mean, if you dream of hiking the Appalachian Trail or climbing Everest, they may have to wait until you have the time to do that or the funding. The kids have moved out, or you have downsized so much that your living expenses are small, but are your dreams really at that level, or are they something you are putting off because you just don’t know how to get started?
Yeah, I thought so. So, let me take a moment to share some thoughts on achieving your dreams because I believe in your incredible potential to make them a reality.
Ready? Good, let’s get it! Firstly, defining your dream is the vital first step. Take a moment to visualize your ideal future, and let your imagination run wild. Whether it's a successful career, a fulfilling personal life, or a grand adventure, give it a clear shape in your mind. Then, break it down into achievable micro-movement steps. Remember, small actions consistently taken can lead to significant results over time.
Next, let's address the obstacles that may arise along the way. Sometimes, our fears and doubts can be the most challenging hurdles. But don't fret! It's essential to identify them, acknowledge their existence, and develop strategies to overcome them. Seek support from loved ones, mentors, or like-minded individuals; hello stranger on tik tok who became our best friend and who shares your passion. Surrounding yourself with positive and encouraging people can make a world of difference.
Remember, my friend, celebrating milestones is crucial, no matter how small. Each step forward is an achievement worth acknowledging and embracing. So, reward yourself with a well-deserved happy dance, and allow yourself to bask in the joy of progress. Be resilient, and you’d be amazed at what can be accomplished. There might be setbacks and moments of doubt, which is entirely expected, but it’s your dream, and no one will do it for you. It’s not their dream.
Also, let me remind you to cultivate a sense of gratitude and curiosity throughout your journey. Gratitude keeps us grounded, appreciating what we have and our progress. And curiosity fuels our growth, encouraging us to explore new possibilities and learn from every experience.
